PotentialTax Preparers Frequently Asked QuestionsIn an effort to answeryour questions about training with us to become a TaxPrep for the upcoming taxseason, we offer the following frequentlyasked questions about the positionand our answers. Q.What is this TaxPreparer job? A. You will learn toprepare individual income tax returns using our special income tax software andbeginning in mid-January, 2005, you will start working at our convenientlocations using our computers along with the Jackson Hewitt Income Tax programto prepare individual income tax returns. We believe the difference between usand any other nationwide or “mom and pop” tax service is that haveknowledgable TaxPreparers who are lead by a franchise owner who is a CPA andinsists upon CustomerService. We offer low competitive fees while always insisting thatour TaxPreps be pleasant and friendly. Smilingis veryimportant if you decide to work for us and being nice to yourfellow TaxPreps also a quality we insist upon. Q.How do I know if you will hire me? A. Almost all applicantsare offered employment if they successfully complete our educational materialand classroom training. We hire the young, the middle age and the senior, nomatter what gender. YOUjust must have a willingness to be a TaxPrep. Q.When do we go to work? A. Tax season starts aroundJanuary 10th and ends on April 15th. Think of it as aseasonal job only! Training must take place before mid-January and is donemostly on your own time and you do not receive compensation for your learningthese job skills. Q.How much does the training cost? A. Our training program is FREE.Your investment is your time and effort in order to be qualified for a TaxPrepposition with our franchise. We do NOT charge you in front and tell you that youmay receive part of the tuition back if we hire you. We are only interested in YOUif you are interested coming to work with us during tax season. Q.How long is the training? A. The training is nowoffered via our web site or a CD ROM. Instead of a boring book you will be leadthrough a sample tax return’s preparation with tax law explanations by ourowner who is a CPA. You may purchasethe Jackson Hewitt’s Computerized Income Tax Course.This will supplement the training video. We are the only people in our industryto have this training tool. Most of the others make you learn with paper andpencil even though we only work with computers to prepare tax returns. Thisworkbook is a 9 chapter workbook and a CD ROM for your computer. This classgenerally takes 12 to 36 hours and is NOT instructor lead. You learn income taxterms and tax law using these tools on your own at your home or work computer. If you decide to purchasethe CITC course the fee is $25 for the workbook and CD ROM and is notrefundable. This is a very useful and an inexpensive way to maintain your taxpreparation skills in future years. After completing the VIDEOtraining you will be tested and then advance to coming into our offices andactually prepare about 15 practice tax returns. We have instructor lead classesbefore, in the middle and at the end of these practice problem sessions. Q.What happens after the Practice Problem Sessions? A. In early January we gettogether for one final orientation meeting where you are issued your FREEuniform and learn just how the day to day operations are handled. You will alsoget to meet your Office Manager who works along with you and handles thesupervision at each location. Advanced training in the office where you willwork is done in early January while you are on our payroll. Q.Where would we work? A. We have 7 locations in Q.How much can I expect to earn? A. Our pay scale is thehighest in the industry. We pay more because we want you back, year after year.Let us discuss compensation issues on your follow up phone call. We know youwill be pleased because our high average of returning TaxPreps prove our payplan is the best in the area. Q.How many hours do I get to work and where and when? A. Our employee managementsystem allows us to get three important pieces of information from you after weagree to hire you and before you start working. Those are: Maximum number of hours perweek you wish to work Top three locations inorder of YOUR preference where you would like to work You tell us when you CANNOTwork because you have a conflict (like another job) or just don’t want to worksome times of the day Remember, some of ourkiosks in retail locations, like Wal-Mart or the Coastland Center are open from9am to 9pm every day of the week from mid-January to April 15th. Q.Anything else we should know? A. Yes, Jackson Hewitt TaxService is the 2nd largest income tax service in the country. That isalso true in Q.Finally, is being bi-lingual a help? A. A big YES.Many of our customers come from non-English speaking backgrounds and we havefound that TaxPreps who can comprehend the English based computer software withan ability to communicate with our customer in their native language is a verybig WIN-WIN situation.
