No manger, no swaddling clothes, just hard work and a good college education allowed me to morph into a long term self employed person in the accounting and tax area as a CPA. As I got older I ventured into various passions as businesses under the theory of "why have a hobby when you can make that hobby into a successful money-making venture?"

Some of those hair-brain schemes worked and some did not. The good baggage remains, so for about 20 years in addition to being a "tax man" I have owned and operated a self-sustaining travel business, All American Travel. Instead of having payroll and employees, the agency makes each and every one of you into an outside sales agent for us and this entitles you to get paid for booking your own travel. This commission or rebate is 80% of what the agency earns for you doing your own work. Not a bad deal and allows me to be in the travel agency business; obviously exclusively via the internet.

More recent activities have led me into the publishing business, again through the net, reporting on festivals. The first site has been up for over a year and lists wine festivals by date and by location allowing the viewer to see if anything interests them sufficiently to actually go to the festival web site and maybe even attend the function.

Soon, my partners in www.winefestnews.com and I will expand into a site that lists wine events (those that occur generally in one day unlike a festival that is generally over a weekend or longer) and will be self-sustaining allowing the public to list their own event so others can see what’s available. Later expansion will come in the way of other passionate endeavors: artfestsnews.com, farmermarketnews.com, musicfestnews.com, foodfestnews.com and, of course, we have nomorewarmwine.com already up and working. Besides a hobby that is traveling and keeping my real neat wife laughing, I really devote most of my days to all of the above. It helps to be a Gemini. It’s been a wonderful life and I still enjoy getting up every day and having something bring a smile to my face and hopefully, to make someone smile……..djb :~))
